The following changes will take place:

Match 5 Prize: The Match 5 Prize with the Power Play option will always be 5X for $1,000,000 in cash!* (5X the regular $200,000)
Starting Jackpots: Jackpots will begin at $20,000,000 instead of $15,000,000.
Average Jackpots: The average jackpot will increase from $95.5 million to $141 million.
Overall Odds: The overall odds of winning a cash prize have improved to 1 in 35.11.

How to Play Powerball

On a Powerball play slip, in the upper portion of the panel, mark five (5) numbers from 1 to 59 and in the lower yellow portion of the panel, mark one (1) number from 1 to 39. You may play up to five (5) panels on a single play slip. Each Powerball play is $1.

Mark the Easy Pick (EP) box on each play to let the computer terminal randomly pick your numbers. You can select Easy Pick for any or all of the five (5) numbers in the upper panel and/or the one (1) number in the lower panel.

Power Play Option: How to Increase Your Winnings

For an extra $1 per play, you can multiply your Powerball prize by 2, 3, 4 or 5 times the original prize amount (for all prizes except the jackpot). With the New Improved Powerball game, the match 5 prize is always 5X for $1,000,000!* Mark the Power Play box on your play slip or ask the clerk to add the Power Play option. The Power Play number is selected at the time of the Powerball drawing.

Ticket Sales and Draw Time

Powerball tickets can be purchased daily. The cut off time for ticket sales is 9:50 PM (ET) on the day of the draw. Drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 PM (ET). You can now watch the live Powerball drawings every Wednesday and Saturday on WAGM. WGME and WLBZ!

The jackpot can be paid in a 30-year annuity for the approximate advertised jackpot amount (30 payments over 29 years) or in a one-lump-sum cash payment. Winners have 60 days from filing a claim to elect the CASH or ANNUITY option.

Match 5 Bonus Prizes

Whenever the jackpot reaches a record level, the amount the jackpot increases for the next drawing may be limited. The prize money collected in excess of the advertised jackpot amount, if any, will be placed into a Bonus Prize pool and will accumulate until there is a jackpot winner. When there is a jackpot winner, the Bonus Prize pool will be divided equally among all winners of the Match 5 prize. The prize will be paid in a one-lump-sum. The Power Play number does not multiply this Bonus Prize.
